MJ Cakery — Order Policies & Terms

Please review the following policies before placing your order. By placing an order with MJ Cakery, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

1. Deposit & Event Date

A minimum 40% deposit is required to secure and hold your event date. Deposits are non-refundable.

2. Orders Under $50

Orders totaling less than $50 must be paid in full at the time of ordering.

3. Orders Placed Within Two Weeks

Orders placed within two weeks of the event or required date must be paid in full at the time of booking. The order will not be considered confirmed until full payment has been received.

MJ Cakery does not accept payment at pickup. All orders must be paid in full prior to pickup or delivery.

4. Final Payment

For orders requiring a deposit, the remaining balance is due 1–2 weeks prior to your event date, as indicated on your invoice.

5. Late or Unpaid Balances

The full balance must be received by the payment due date. If payment is not received by the due date, the order may be considered cancelled and the contract null and void. The deposit will not be refunded.

6. Changes to Your Order

The final payment date is also the final date for any changes to the size, style, design, or flavours of your cake, cookies, or confections.

Changes requested after this date are not guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.

7. Delivery & Setup

Delivery and setup are available for an additional fee based on the location, delivery time, and setup requirements. These costs will be discussed and quoted when your order is priced.

8. Responsibility After Setup or Pickup

MJ Cakery is not responsible for any damage to cakes, cookies, or confections after delivery and setup have been completed or after an order has been picked up.

The customer is responsible for providing an appropriate, secure, and level table or surface, as well as a suitable environment for the product. Cakes are heavy and require a sturdy, stable surface. For best results, cakes should be kept in a temperature-controlled environment of 75°F (24°C) or below.

9. Customer Pickup & Transportation

If you or your designated representative choose to pick up and/or set up your order, you assume full responsibility for the condition of the product once it leaves MJ Cakery's possession.

This includes transportation, handling, storage, and setup.

10. Allergens

Our products may contain or come into contact with milk, wheat, eggs, nuts, peanuts, soy, and other allergens. While we take reasonable precautions in our preparation, we cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from allergens.

By placing an order, you agree to inform your guests of this potential risk and acknowledge that MJ Cakery cannot be held responsible for allergic reactions resulting from the consumption of our products.

11. Gluten-Free Orders & Cross-Contamination

While MJ Cakery does offer some gluten-free products, we do not operate in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. Because our kitchen handles products containing gluten, cross-contamination may occur.

For individuals with celiac disease, severe gluten allergies, or other medically necessary gluten-free requirements, our products are not recommended.

12. Cake Returns & Refunds

If a cake is eligible for return or refund, no refund will be issued unless at least 90% of the cake is returned intact and in substantially the same condition as when it left MJ Cakery's possession.

Cakes that have been significantly consumed, damaged, altered, or otherwise returned with less than 90% remaining will not qualify for a refund.

13. Cake Flavour & Personal Preference

Refunds will not be issued because a customer does not personally like the flavour of a cake, filling, frosting, or confection.

Customers are responsible for selecting their desired flavours when placing their order. Once the order has been prepared and provided as requested, personal taste preferences are not considered a reason for a refund.
